Energy Saving

Bioenergy West Midlands - Bioenergywm has been established by Advantage West Midlands, Harper Adams University College, Defra, and the Government Office for the West Midlands to assist in the development of a dedicated regional bioenergy supply chain
Cycling - Wolverhampton City Council provide help and information on routes, proficiency courses and resources
Energy efficiency - Wolverhampton City Council have lots of information on energy efficiency and eligible grant support including details of special schemes in the ABCD (ending March 2008) and Oxley / Bushbury North areas
Energy Efficiency Advice Line - is run by Hestia Managed Services on behalf of the Energy Saving Trust. Call 0800 512 012 for energy efficiency advice and details of grants available for heating and home insulation
Energy Saving Trust - recommends ‘A’ rated energy efficient household products and appliances listed on it’s database

Grow Your Own Energy - is a Hestia initiative offering independent advice on making your own energy including options available and potential savings
Heat Project - offers grant assistance for loft and cavity wall insulation and is designed to enable all home owners and private tenants to have insulation measures installed at affordable prices or in some cases for free

The Phoenix Project - is an ASAN initiative that offers advice, information and support to landlords and tenants in the private rented sector within All Saints, helping them to make environmental improvements and access grants to install double glazing and upgrade central heating
Transport Direct - for information on planning all aspects of travel, live travel updates and check carbon emissions of journey
Traveline - is a partnership of transport operators and local authorities formed to provide impartial and comprehensive information on public transport in the West Midlands Call the hot line on 0121 200 2700
Wolverhampton Car Share - for City Council employees. National schemes are available on line for everyone else

Recycling

ASAN Green-Works - is an office furniture retail and recycling franchise in partnership with Green-Works based in London
ASAN Recycling Service - collects and recycles a range of unwanted household items such as furniture, fridges and washing machines from homes in the All Saints area
Composting - Wolverhampton City Council is working in partnership with Enterprise Plc and WRAP to offer reduced rate compost bins
eCycle - is an Express and Star Newspaper service that encourages residents to advertise useful household items for free rather than discard them
Household Recycling Centres - Wolverhampton City Council provide facilities at Shaw Road and Anchor Lane where you can take most home generated waste not collected at the kerbside. In addition, there are over 100 recycling facilities available for use across the city
Kerbside Collections - Wolverhampton City Council supply information on their refuse, dry and garden waste recycling schemes including when and what to recycle. There is also help for residents living in flats and hard to reach areas

Wolverhampton Freecycle - is part of The Freecycle Network, a not for profit organisation and a movement of people interested in keeping quality household goods out of landfill by passing them on for free

Carbon Calculator - developed by Warwick University determines the amount of carbon dioxide you produce as a direct result from your lifestyle choices
Carbon Trust - works with business and the public sector to identify carbon emissions and find solutions to cut them, providing knowledge and resources (including funding) to help them do so
eco3 - are an environmental consultancy specialising in eco design consultancy and producer responsibility
Energy Saving Trust - offer easy, practical steps you can take to make your office greener
Envirowise - is a Government funded programme dedicated to putting the sustainable use of resources at the heart of UK business practice
Groundwork Black Country - helps build sustainable communities in areas of need through joint environmental action with local strategic partnerships and councils, schools, residents’ associations and groups of special interest
Groundwork EBS - provide practical support, advice, information and training to companies on environmental business issues
Home Energy Check - from the Energy Saving Trust provides you with a personalised report showing how much energy and money you can save in your home
National Industrial Symbiosis Programme (NISP) - is part funded by Defra’s Business Resource Efficiency and Waste Programme and uses industrial symbiosis to identify sustainable resource management solutions for business
Resurgence - offer a carbon calculator for your personal carbon dioxide emissions and a house energy audit calculator that works out how much energy you could save when heating your home
